New equipment: Intensity Extreme

Some new equipment recently arrived for the stream; one of the key items being the Blackmagic Intensity Extreme, pictured above. It uses the new Thunderbolt connection, which at present is only available on Apple machines but is soon to hit PC. Unfortunately you can only buy Thunderbolt cables from Apple at present, and they weigh in at £39!

Thunderbolt cables carry power so the device does not come with a power lead. Future plans for the Thunderbolt standard include fibre optic cables, however they cannot currently carry power alongside them, so it will be interesting to see how this technology develops.
